FAQs

Why do I need TaskMate when there's hundred's of to-do apps?

TaskMate has many benefits over an app. However, it's also designed to work alongside your digital tools.

Benefits of TaskMate compared to to-do apps:

  1. A distraction-free, tangible experience that can not be replicated by a digital app.
  2. No notifications, calls, emails, etc. getting in the way of your tasks.
  3. No technical issues or software updates.
  4. Paper never runs out of battery.
  5. Research suggests that writing things down by hand can improve memory-retention compared to digitally typing or tapping at a keyboard.
  6. Lastly, there's just something about physically crossing off a task that just feels so good.

What are the different cards for?

Each pack of task cards contains:

  • 30 x Today cards - for task you're going to do today's
  • 15 x Blank cards - to personalise to your needs, e.g. Meeting notes, Shopping list, Ideas, etc.
  • 5 x Upcoming cards - for tasks you need to do next week, next month, etc.

Plus, on the back of each card you'll find space for notes, ideas, lists or whatever your curious mind needs to jot down.

What if I have more than 10 tasks?

Juggling too many tasks at once can have a have a negative impact on your productivity.

It's impossible to say what's the 'correct' amount of tasks you should do in a day as everyone is unique and has different ways of working. However, we recommend starting with about 4 -6 tasks and seeing how that works for you.

TaskMate cards are designed to fit up to 10 tasks per card. However, if you really need the space to write more tasks, we recommend using the 'Notes' section on the back of the card.

What if I run out of cards?

No problem!

We offer a subscription service so you never run out or forget to order new cards again. If you're not subscribed, or you're just being super productive, you can order new cards here.

Each pack contains 50 cards - this should last you about a month. If you ordered one of our starter kits, you will have received 3 packs which should last you about 3 months.

Do I keep the card once I'm done with it?

We recommend storing the cards on top of the metal divider for reference - in case you need to go back and review something. It's also a nice way of showing how much you've gotten done and motivates you to keep being productive.

If you don't want to keep your cards, do yourself and the planet a favour and recycle.

Can I create my own card symbols?

We've created a set of symbols to highlight if a task is:

  1. In-progress
  2. Completed
  3. Moved
  4. A meeting, event or appointment

However, it's completely up to you if you wish to use these or create your own. You can even create symbols for tasks specific to your needs like a Pull Request if you're a developer or Editing if you're a photographer.
